Vanilla

Vanilla beans come from the vanilla orchid, which can be found in Madagascar and Indonesia. Each plant is pollinated by hand! We currently use several different variations of vanilla: vanilla water, vanilla absolute, vanilla extract, vanilla pods, vanilla pod infusion, vanilla powder and vanilla pod powder! The vanilla pods we use come from South America and the West Indies. A lot of the vanilla we use is Fairtrade, for example in creamy candy bubble bar and butter ball bath ballistic, and comes from Uganda. Vanilla is incredibly expensive, and is the second most expensive spice after saffron!

What does it do?

- Vanilla has a lovely, sweet aroma.

- Vanillin, the main source of vanillas scent, is said to be an antioxidant.

- The sugars in vanilla act as a humectant; creating a barrier and keeping moisture in the skin.

- Vanilla is a luxury ingredient. A true pampering treat!
